Itinerary :

Embark on a journey to explore the wonders of Rabat, a city steeped in history and culture. Begin by visiting the awe-inspiring Hassan Tower, an unfinished monument intended to be the minaret of the largest mosque in the world. Marvel at the magnificent structure’s partial outer walls, 348 columns, and the half-finished minaret that stands at 140 feet instead of the intended 260 feet.

Opposite the Hassan Tower lies the Mohammed V Mausoleum, a stunning masterpiece of Alaouite architecture. Admire the pristine white walls and the green tiled roof as you explore the interior and pay your respects to the tombs of Mohammed V, the grandfather of the current king, as well as the king’s father, Hassan II, and his uncle, Prince Abdallah.

A short stroll away is the Royal Palace, a grand edifice that serves as the residence of the Moroccan royal family. Take in the beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding the palace and Marvel at the exquisite French-inspired architecture featuring traditional Arabic motifs.

Next, head to the Kasbah Oudaya, located adjacent to the Rabat Medina and at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River opposite Sale. Explore the oldest building in the Kasbah, a mosque dating back to the 10th century, restored in the 18th century using funds from an English pirate. Stroll through the famous Andalusian gardens and discover the residential neighbourhood with distinct blue and white walls.

Finally, visit the Chellah, a fascinating site from the 2nd century. These ancient ruins and necropolis were once a trading colony settled by the Phoenicians before the Romans took them over and then the Muslims. Witness the remnants of the past and imagine the stories that these ruins could tell.

As an optional add-on, you can visit the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern Art, which houses works from over 200 Moroccan artists. It is the first large-scale museum built in Morocco since the country gained independence from France in 1956. Discover the rich history, stunning architecture, and artistic treasures that make Rabat a must-see destination.
