Ok tour, I suggest booking private tour through hotel. While we were a couple, there were other people with us. When we got to Ourika Valley, there was confusion as to whether the other people had paid for the hike portion of the tour or not. So an argument took place which was unpleasant. Also, going all the way to the top is a lot harder than advertised. So when some people didn’t want t to go, the whole extra portion had to be scrapped, which was very disappointing to me (as I wanted to go). This meant a portion of what I paid was not delivered. Also, be aware that, while interesting and a source of livelihood for the local Berber population, all the cooperatives are really set up to sell you stuff. If this is not what you want from your tour (I did expect it), then be aware it is what you will get. Lunch was nice by the river but food was average at best. Also, the van we took had the engine light on most of the trip which was unnerving.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Disappointing organization and unexpected costs, but amazing landscapes The places we visited were beautiful and the desert experience itself was unforgettable, but unfortunately the organization and communication were disappointing. The day before departure, although the tour description stated that the exact meeting point and time would be confirmed via WhatsApp or email, nobody contacted us. So, we first tried through Tripadvisor in the early afternoon without receiving a reply, and then through two different WhatsApp numbers. After several messages with a travel agency person, unclear answers and long waiting times, we were finally told in the evening to meet at another riad, about 8–9 minutes' walk from ours. The next morning, however, the driver called me because he was expecting us at our original riad, creating unnecessary confusion. The advertised itinerary was also not respected. Ait Ben Haddou was scheduled for the second day, with around three hours for the visit and lunch, but we visited it on the first day and spent considerably less time there. Ouarzazate, scheduled for the first day with around 90 minutes for lunch and free time, was instead reduced to a roughly five-minutes photo stop on the second day. At the same time, in the second day, there was a long, unadvertised stop at the Labyrinthe du Sud, an antique/souvenir shop, where after explanations about local traditions, products were offered for sale. There were also several unclear or unexpected costs. At Ait Ben Haddou, our guide literally described buying a scarf as the “passport” for the desert experience. Scarves cost around €10–15 each, and most people bought one because it was presented as necessary, although this was never mentioned in the tour information or in the list of things to bring. The Tripadvisor description also stated that €3 per person was not included for the Ait Ben Haddou guide. Instead, our guide later told us that the €3 was for entrance to the kasbah, while a separate contribution for his guiding service could be given at our discretion. The estimated lunch cost was also not clear: the information suggested around €26 per person for both lunches, while at the first restaurant alone most dishes started at around €14–15, excluding drinks (so just one lunch around 18 euros). Finally, the camel equipment was quite worn and uncomfortable, and at the desert camp the electricity was not working inside our tent or bathroom, only some lighting in the common area. Overall, I really enjoyed the landscapes, Ait Ben Haddou and especially the desert experience. However, because of the bad organization, the differences from the advertised itinerary and the unexpected commercial stops and costs, I would not recommend this particular tour/operator.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()
